Districts of Salzburg
The whole city is divided into the Old and New parts. Also, the peak of the mountain Festungsberg is considered as a separate district of the city.

The Old City located on the left bank of the river Salzach was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. It is famous for its baroque architecture and is one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps. Residenzplatz is the main site here. Its look persisted since the XVIII century. Here you can visit St Peter’s Abbey, Salzburg Residenz and Residenzgalerie.
Getreidegasse is a popular street for the walks. Mozarts Geburtshaus is located here. It is a house, where Wolfgang Mozart was born. There is also a museum on the territory of the house.
Outside the Old City, you can visit the medieval Hohensalzburg Castle. It is one of the largest castles in Europe. Afterwards, you should take a look at Nonnberg Abbey, a Benedictine female monastery, founded in 714. This is the oldest monastery in the German-speaking countries.
Mirabell Palace is another popular tourist sight in Salzburg. It was built in 1606 in baroque style. There is also a museum of baroque on the territory of the palace. It is really worth to visit.
Climate and weather in the city
Salzburg experiences an oceanic climate. The average daily temperature is +17°C in summer and -1°C in winter. Other time the temperature ranges between +4°C and +14°C. Due to the location at the northern rim of the Alps, the amount of precipitation is comparatively high, mainly in the summer months. The specific drizzle is called Schnürlregen in the local dialect. In general, there are circa 140 mm of precipitations during the year.
